Dear SBOA of NJ Members:

This year’s publication of the New Jersey Stallion Registry contains significant changes, becoming a
more comprehensive text to add to your library. The focus of the publication is expanding to celebrate
the accomplishments of the New Jersey standardbred industry. While detailed information
about the 2007 New Jersey Stallions can still be found within these pages, so are articles on the
people and events that continue to make New Jersey the leading state in Harness Racing.

The preeminence of New Jersey stallions is evident again this year. Four of the eight two and three
year old Breeders Crown Champions were sired by New Jersey stallions, as were many of the major
open stakes. The Meadowlands Pace and The Hambletonian were two of the biggest prizes captured
by New Jersey sired horses. Glidemaster won trotting’s Triple Crown in 2006 and is a leading
contender for Horse of the Year honors. If he does not win the coveted honor another New Jersey
sired horse, the champion filly, Passionate Glide, will probably win the award.

Articles about people, farms, research, owner development and the landmark event of the year, the
New Jersey Horse Alliance will prove interesting study. As you read the pages that follow, it will
become clear that New Jersey stallions are a formidable force within the Standardbred industry. It is
clear that while parts of the country are projecting bright futures it is New Jersey’s stallions, people
and racing that still shines brightest.

We are deeply appreciative of the stallion owners’ commitment to breeding in New Jersey and to
those who work tirelessly within New Jersey. The Directors of the SBOA of NJ remain committed to
the promotion of the Standardbred industry and look forward to working with everyone again in
2007 to ensure that New Jersey remains the greatest state in racing.
