BIG ACTION ON SATURDAY AT THE MEADOWLANDS

The Meadowlands Website

-- Meadowlands Media Department

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ -- January 27, 2017 -- Saturday night at The Meadowlands is bursting with action and activities. The racing action is fierce with some really competitive fields coming together. There are several higher class conditions and three divisions of the popular Racing for G-Notes short series.

Vegas Vacation gave a really good account of himself in his very first start at The Meadowlands last week, finishing a good second to a razor sharp Bettor's Edge. He actually drops a class here but it's no easy stroll with several formful foes including a raging Rockin Robert from the rail, Reuben Brogden N off the layoff and the always dangerous National Seelster awaiting him in Saturday's second race. Jimmy Marohn, Jr drives "Vegas" for trainer Andrew Harris.

There's another division of that same class in race 11 and Calvin B (Corey Callahan) looks like the horse to beat in that one. He's always done well over the mile for owner Delores Smiel and trainer Heidi Rohr and is rounding into top form. Pansformative is a danger from his inside post and Mattamerican should move forward off a no chance spot at Yonkers.

The top class is a $15,000 condition pace (race 7) with a field of nine really nice horses that match up really well. Doctor Butch is the slight morning line choice over Ontario Success and Hillbilly Hanover in that one. "Butch" is the kind of horse everyone would like to have, grinding out a few hundred thousand every season for owner Kenny Jacobs and trainer Linda Toscano. Marohn has the drive on this one, too.

All the standard horizontal guarantees are in place with the largest pools in all of harness racing and free program pages are available for the Late Pick 4.

Off the track there's a chili cook-off with a people's choice element so you can taste and vote, too. The "Own A Horse" sign up ends Saturday, so get that done right away! Trackside dining is available in Pink.

Racing begins at 7:15 p.m.
