JL CRUZE TROTS TRACK RECORD 1:49.4

MANALAPAN, NJ – July 11, 2015 -- In the $250,000 Graduate Final for four-year-old trotters, the 1:50 barrier for trotters was broken for the first time at the Meadowlands by 3-5 favorite JL Cruze who finished a nose ahead of champion mare Shake It Cerry in the tenth race on Saturday, July 11, 2015.

JL Cruze, driven by John Campbell and trained by Eric Ell, coasted up to the lead before the half in 54.2 [opening quarter in 26.3] and tripped the three-quarters in 1:22.4.

JL Cruze [$3.20], a four-year-old gelding by Crazed, crossed the wire in 1:49.4, the fastest trotting mile in Meadowlands history. It was JL Cruze’s fourth consecutive win and 15th in 17 starts this year.

JL Cruze

He was purchased last November for $37,000 by Ken Wood, William Dittmar Jr. and Stephen Iaquinta.

Shake It Cerry [Donato Hanover], with Jimmy Takter at the lines, made up ground with a 26.1 final quarter to finish a nose back. Resolve [Muscle Hill] was third by a length and half.

JL Cruze lifted his earnings to $396,138 this year for a career total of $428,735.
