GUESS WHOS BACK & RULES OF THE ROAD WIN IN 2ND LEG OF NJSS

MANALAPAN, NJ – May 22, 2015 – Guess Whos Back and Rules of the Road turned in winning efforts in the second leg of the New Jersey Sire Stakes for three-year-old trotters on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Meadowlands.

Guess Whos Back improved his 2015 record to two wins in two starts with a career best 1:52.4 mile in the seventh race, the $25,000 division for colts and geldings that drew 11 starters. The Muscles Yankee colt was three fifths of a second off the stakes record of 1:52.1 shared by Manofmanymissions, Smilin Eli and Trixton.

Guess Whos Back [#7]

Guess Whos Back, sent off as the 1-2 favorite, was a measured half-length ahead of Canepa Hanover at the wire. It was two lengths back to Aldebaran Eagle in third. Canepa Hanover and Aldebaran Eagle are both sons of Muscle Hill.

Brian Sears guided the Nikolas Drennan-trained Guess Whos Back to the lead at the quarter, gave way to Canepa Hanover after a half in 55.3 and tipped out on the turn for home to make his winning bid. The two trotted together through the stretch with Guess Whos Back pulling ahead with a hand drive to the wire.

The New Jersey Sire Stakes champion at two, Guess Whos Back has a lifetime record of four wins, one second and one third in 10 starts for earnings of $119,850.

The son of Muscles Yankee races for the partnership of Joseph Davino of Clarksburg, NJ; Brad Shackman in Calgary, Alberta; TLP Stable of Kearny, NJ and J&T Silva Stables LLC of Long Beach, NY.

Rules of the Road cut the fractions in the fifth race, the $25,000 division for fillies, holding off 21-1 Model Behavior [Muscles Yankee] and 3-5 Riley’s Dream [Muscle Hill] to post her second win of the year.

Rules of the Road

Rules of the Road, sent off at odds of 5-1, trotted the mile in 1:55 flat, winning by a length and a half. Riley’s Dream was third by a length and three-quarters.

David Miller was at the lines of the Muscle Hill filly who is trained and co-owned by Janice Connor of Goshen, NY. Connor shares ownership with Arden Homestead Stable of Delhi, NY.

A Simpson division winner, Rules of the Road improved her career record to three wins, two seconds and four thirds in 20 starts for earnings of $83,348.

Rules of the Road and Guess Whos Back were both bred by Diamond Creek Farm. Melvin Hartman shares breeding honors on Guess Whos Back.
