MISSION BRIEF SETS TRACK RECORD

MANALAPAN, NJ – July 25, 2014 – Mission Brief, who sparkled in winning the New Jersey Sire Stakes Final two weeks ago, eclipsed her own track record with a 1:53.2 mile in the $20,000 Merrie Annabelle Elimination for two-year-old trotting fillies on Friday night, July 25, 2014 at the Meadowlands.

Mission Brief

The daughter of Muscle Hill tossed in a 27.3 last quarter to win the 11th race, the second of two $20,000 eliminations. The top five from each advance to next week’s $352,050 Merrie Annabelle Final.

The Ron Burke trainee has now won three in a row out of four starts. She finished five and a half lengths ahead of another Muscle Hill miss, Jolene Jolene, with Onda Di Mare, Livininthefastlane and Sarcy also advancing to the final

“She was much more ratable this week,” said winning driver Yannick Gingras. “She’s figuring things out, and I’m figuring her out. She’s got it all.”

Mission Brief was a $150,000 Lexington Selected yearling purchase for the ownership of Burke Racing Stable, Our Horse Cents Stables, J&T Silva Stables and Weaver Bruscemi.

Hall of Famer Cat Manzi with many friends and family were saluted in the winner's circle after the sixth race.

In the first split, the fourth race, Lock Down Lindy, driven by Scott Zeron and trained by Tony Alagna, was a half-length winner over Gatka Hanover. Love Me Madly was third with Lilu Hanover and Wordie Hanover also making the cut.

Lock Down Lindy, picking up her second win in three starts, trotted her mile in 1:55 flat. The Lucky Chucky filly races for Mystical Marker Farms, Crawford Partners, Joe Sbrocco and the In the Gym Partners who purchased her for $40,000 at the Lexington Selected Sale.

It was the first win in three starts for Centurion ATM, a son of SJs Caviar, who cost Courant AB of Stockholm, Sweden and Knutsson Trotting Inc of Vero Beach, FL $100,000 at the Harrisburg Sale.

The top seven finishers also earned spots in the $355,500 Peter Haughton Final: Centurion ATM, Uncle Lasse, Cruzado Dela Noche, Gifted Way, SS Poseidon, Special Action and Amicus along with three colts who had byes, Canepa Hanover, Guess Whos Back and Honor And Serve.

In the 12th race, the $20,000 second leg of the Ima Lula for four-year-old trotting mares, Classic Martine, driven by Tim Tetrick and trained by Chris Oakes, caught defending Horse of the Year Bee A Magician in 1:51.2. NF Happenstance was third.
