HE’S WATCHING WINS MEADOWLANDS PACE IN WORLD-RECORD EQUALING 1:46.4

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – July 12, 2014 – Tim Tetrick collected his fourth Meadowlands Pace, firing He’s Watching in the stretch, to win in an all-age world record equaling 1:46.4 mile in the ninth race on Saturday night, July 12, 2014 at the Meadowlands.

He’s Watching, who paid $6.80, $3.80, $3.40, finished two and a half lengths ahead of Always B Miki [$5.80, $4.60] who nosed out Tellitlikeitis [$8.20] for second in the $776,000 Meadowlands Pace.

He’s Watching enjoyed a second-over trip, following 3-2 favorite JK Endofanera [who finished sixth], moving in mid-stretch to pull away with a final quarter in 25.3.

“This is a great horse,” Tetrick said of the son of American Ideal - Baberhood. “He’s a very special colt. It’s just an honor to compete in these races.”

Tetrick also won the Meadowlands Pace in 2007 with Southwind Lynx, One More Laugh in 2010 and with Captaintreacherous in 2013.

Tim Tetrick and his family

This was trainer Ontario-based David Menary’s first Meadowlands Pace starter. He co-owns the colt with Brad Gray of Dundas, Ontario; Michael Guerriero of Puslinch, Ontario and the Muscara Racing Trust of Ivyland, PA. Muscara Trust owner Joseph Muscara passed away on Monday.

He was bred by Britttany Farms, Robert Burgess and Karin Olsson Burgesss. A $3,000 Harrisburg Yearling Sale purchase, he now has three wins in six starts this year and 11 wins in 14 starts lifetime for earnings of $849,957 with the winner’s share of $388,000.

“That was exactly the trip I thought we’d get, second over to JK Endofanera,” said Menary. “He’s versatile. He can explode off the helmet. He can do it on any sized track and any way. Tim said there was more in the tank.”

The 1:46.4 mile broke the stakes record of 1:47 established by Art Official in 2008 and matched the world record and all-age track record by older gelding Holborn Hanover in 2006.
